Oil Painting "Winter Alley - Seward, AK"

Oil Painting on canvas 30" x 40"

Here is one of my newest paintings that I have completed recently.  I enjoyed painting this very much because it is a subject that I love.  I drive around our little seaside town and I am in awe at the beauty of Mt. Alice and Resurrection bay in the background of all the everyday small town buildings, cars, oil tanks etc.  This painting will be in my upcoming show on May 6, 2016 at Resurrect Art Gallery.

Thank you for following my art blog!

6" x 12" Oil on Panel.  SOLD

This is a painting of the late afternoon light falling on buildings along the park strip in downtown Anchorage.  The view is from 10th Avenue looking east toward the Chugach Mountains.   I have donated this painting to the Art Showcase Auction at Alaska Public Media KAKM - TV.  The art action will take place live on television February 6 - 8, 7 -10 p.m.  All proceeds go to the nonprofit Alaska Public Media.  I love PBS!

8" x 10" Oil on canvas, Sold.     Our daylight is getting longer and the low evening sunlight is a welcome change.  I really do enjoy painting this kind of lighting on the snow.

Driving Pleasure

11"x 14" Oil on canvas, SOLD      Heading south to the Kenai along Turnagain Arm!  I have made this drive hundreds of times in my over 40 years of living in Alaska and I can honestly say it never gets dull!  The mountains in the distance here are actually the Alyeska ski resort mountains.  I grew up skiing here most winter weekends through my high school years.   These days we stop at the Bake Shop for their homemade soup or one of their fabulous sweet rolls.... my personal favorite!

6"x 9" oil on primed board. Available.   There is a popular walking path along the coast of our town.  People walk it daily in all kinds of weather.  This was painted along the trail in plaine air from our vehicle just a week ago on a very cold and windy day.

Pt. Woronzof #2

5"x12" oil on primed wood panel.   Same place as the last painting posted but if you look closely you will see some differences like the reflection in the water and the mountains of the Alaska Range across Cook Inlet are more visible ... not covered by clouds.   Happy Thanksgiving Day!

I donated this painting to the KAKM Public Television Art Showcase Action 2013.  You can bid for it on February 21-23, 2013.

Pt. Woronzof

9"x 12" oil on primed wood panel.   This painting is of a view form a friend's house who I sometimes cat sit for in Anchorage, AK.  They have a beautiful home on a bluff right in town that looks over all the houses below and right out to Cook Inlet.  The land formation in the left of the painting is called Pt. Woronzof.   So this painting was painted in plein air, however, I was inside looking out large glass windows as I painted.  The temperature was roughly 12 degrees outside at the time!
