Solitary Paddle

9" x 12" Oil on panel  SOLD

Many of our guests paddle to this stream to explore the nearby water falls and spawning pink salmon.  Bald eagles and river otters are also seen frequently in this area.   This view is looking downstream to the mouth of the stream.   ....  and  .....  HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Old Dock - Seward Harbor

8" x 10"  Oil on panel. SOLD

This is a plein air painting I painted this October.   A painting is classified as "plein air" when it was painted entirely on site and not in a studio.  This is a very exhilarating way to paint.  The artist has many things to contend with besides just trying to put the right color paint in the right place.  We have weather to contend with, changing light (as the sun moves), people passing by,  coordination of all we need on site and just trying to get it done in a timely way.

I painted this form behind the Holiday Inn Express hotel which overlooks our harbor.  There is a lower dock area, sheltered form the wind, and I was able to stand there for this view.

Rowing

8"x 10" Oil on Canvas.    This painting was really fun for me to paint.  I enjoyed the water, the colors and the  movement.  This little row boat gets a lot of action during the summer months out at our cabins in Humpy Cove.

Sasha

SOLD

6" x 8" Oil on panel.    This painting is of the beautiful harbor seal that lives in the cove where our cabins are.   We have enjoyed watching Sasha for close to 15 years.   She seems to enjoy watching us too.  It is wonderful to have her company in the cove.  Twice she has had a small pup with her.    About 5 years ago we had a family from Dallas, Texas with 3 college age daughters come to stay at the cabins.  Upon seeing the harbor seal by the island, the girls decided to name her Sasha.  We have called her Sasha ever since and it seems to fit her.

8"x 10"  Oil on panel.   One day in October I headed out to look for a location to paint in plein air since the weather was mild and the late afternoon sky was casting a lovely warm light on everything.  I noticed the Tustumena was at the cruise ship dock in Seward.  I set up and had a great time working on this painting.

22" x 28" Oil on canvas.   Here once again is the rocky shoreline of Humpy Cove.  It is a wonderful place to explore by kayak.  I love these trees and rocks.
